Owner Nick Moon told What Now Orlando that they are currently working with an architect on a design for an extensive remodel of the building, and he tentatively expects to be open for business in early 2022, but says it could be sooner.

What began as a small operation with outdoor-only seating, has exploded amidst the pandemic due to Melbourne Seafood Station’s successful takeout business.

The company’s business model is a casual, counter-service concept serving boil baskets, bowls, and platters with boiled and steamed shellfish, including shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, crab, and lobster. Patrons can also choose cod, salmon, grouper, red snapper or chicken options, all for very reasonable prices.

The majority of the seafood served at Melbourne Seafood is wild-caught, and baskets come with sausage, corn, potatoes, and garlic toast. Patrons can also order Family Feast options, which serve 5-6 diners. Sangria, domestic beers, and house wines are on the menu as well.

The company website advertises weekly specials, including Buy One Get One deals on Wednesdays and discounts for active duty military, veterans, and first responders every Monday.

Before opening Melbourne Seafood Station, Moon and his father owned Moon’s Amazing Seafood on Harbor City Boulevard. Along with his wife Naomi, Moon opened the first Melbourne Seafood Station in Downtown Melbourne in 2016, followed by a second location on Palm Bay Road in West Melbourne in 2018.

Three additional locations followed at Indian Harbour Beach, Hunter’s Creek Promenade in Orlando, and a location in Viera in 2020. According to previous media coverage, Moon has considered the idea of franchising Melbourne Seafood Station in the future.
