Tampa to Welcome Florida’s First Wagamama

The Asian fusion restaurant with international locations, as well as five between New York and Boston, announced plans to open its first Florida spot.

Strategic Property Partners (SPP) is in the midst of developing its newest project, Water Street Tampa. According to the commercial real estate company’s website, Water Street Tampa “offers a vibrant vision for the future of downtown Tampa, and for the people who live, work, study, and visit the neighborhood each day.” The 56-acre mixed-use development that runs along the downtown Tampa waterfront is currently in the process of leasing retail sites, and a new leasee has just been announced.

Wagamama, the Asian fusion restaurant with restaurants across Europe and the Middle East as well as Boston and New York, will open Florida’s first location at 1050 Water St. Wagamama will take over a 4,200 square foot space in the bustling retail development.

“With our fresh, flavorful cuisine and engaged, social atmosphere, Wagamama is ideally suited for the Tampa market,” Richard Flaherty, co-CEO of Wagamama USA, said in a press release. “We knew Water Street Tampa, with its focus on community and vibrant street-level programming, was the perfect fit for our high-quality, high-energy dining experience. We’re thrilled to be part of this exciting new neighborhood and make Water Street Tampa our first location in Florida.”

Wagamama is known for its ramen, teppanyaki, and curries. It’s sweeping menu also offers an array of shareables, perfect for a night out with a large group.

It appears an exact opening date has yet to be announced for the global eatery’s first Florida spot, but you should expect to be dining on plates of bang bang cauliflower and chili calamari sometime in early 2022. Visit Wagamama’s website for more information.
