Sabrosito Criollo, the popular Puerto Rican eatery at 3810 S Orlando Drive in Sanford, will soon re-open after over being closed down for over a year.
“There were a lot of reasons for the closure,” owner Magalys Rivera tells What Now Orlando. “The hurricane, we were robbed, just a lot of things.”
When asked why they have decided to reopen after so many setbacks, Rivera defiantly responds.
“We are reopening because we have a vision and we want to make sure it’s accomplished.”
And what could such a motivating vision could be?
“We are going from being take-out only to a full dine-in restaurant with a revamped menu featuring dinner plates—not just street food. We’re also going to integrate different cultural cuisines such as Mexican food and make it our own. There are going to be significant changes all around. We’re changing the whole concept and menu.”
It’s not just the culinary concept that’s changing, but the aesthetic and ambience, too.
“The decoration has completely changed as well. There wasn’t too much stuff in here before, but now we’re getting chairs, tables, and a bar.”
Of all the particular adjustments, Rivera is most excited about one upcoming dish in particular: the tacovilla.
“It’s an empanada in the form of a taco with our three homemade salsas-avocado, mayo-ketchup, sour cream—all topping it off.”
There are no specific, set dates for opening, but locals can expect this roaring comeback to be received with open arms—and applause.
