Escapology, an escape room experience, opened its newest corporate location at the Promenade at Sunset Walk on Wednesday June 7th. The new Sunset Walk Escapology, on Margaritaville Boulevard in the heart of Central Florida’s newest resort destination, features eight themed escape rooms including Batman: The Dark Knight Challenge; Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Castle Adventure; Star Trek: Quantum Filament; A Pirate’s Curse; and Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express.

“We can’t wait to bring our latest high-tech, fast-paced games to Sunset Walk,” said Burton Heiss, CEO of Escapology in a statement. “Orlando is the entertainment capital of the world, and we know that residents and tourists alike will love trying to crack the codes and escape our rooms in 60 nail- biting minutes–alongside Batman, Scooby-Doo, and other popular characters.”

Escapology hosted a kickoff on Wednesday June 7th, when police officers with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office competed with 40 young campers from the sheriff’s department’s summer adventure camp to practice team-building and try to break out of the escape rooms. Escapology made a donation to the county’s Teen Safe Driving Program to help reinforce safe driving practices and save lives.

Headquartered in Orlando, Escapology has tapped into the popularity of escape rooms, which are now among the fastest growing entertainment venues in the U.S. In 2014, there were just two dozen in existence; today, there are about 2,000. “The escape-room industry is becoming more professional and tech-focused, shifting away from the old Mom-and Pop standalone locations that used to dominate the sector,” Heiss said. “Escapology is constantly developing exciting new games and announcing new licensing deals to bring familiar games to our customers.”

At Escapology, up to 8 players at a time are locked in a room for 60 minutes, and must use their wits to escape. “Escapology is a fantastic addition to Sunset Walk. The Promenade is a vibrant and growing entertainment district and Escapology is a perfect fit here thanks to the immersive and unique experiences it provides for its customers,” said Ray Stines, Vice President of Entertainment and Marketing for Sunset Walk. The new venue will provide work for about 25 employees in Osceola County, adding jobs to the local economy.
