On the corner of a strip mall with frontage to Lockwood Boulevard, Lemongrass Thai Kitchen is gearing up to open in the summer of 2022. Owner Vickie Dakum confirmed in a phone interview with What Now that she is in the process of acquiring permits.
The restaurant will be replacing Brickhouse Coffee and Kitchen, which has been closed since 2019, at 1016 Lockwood Blvd, Suite 170. It will be neighboring Hinode Sushi, Tijuana Flats and Firehouse Subs.
Dakum is drawing on her 17 years of experience cooking Thai cuisine to bring the new full-dining concept to the area. Her husband, Chef Tuvi Dakum is partnering with her, and the Thai-natives have a combined 30 years of experience crafting Thai dishes.
In an interview, Dakum shared: “Lemongrass Thai Kitchen will bring a new experience to Oviedo residents as well as visitors. The restaurant will feature creative presentation of well-known Thai dishes while maintaining authenticity and the art of Thai cooking, all in a contemporary, minimal yet welcoming and comforting atmosphere.”
She confirmed that this restaurant has no connection to other Lemon Grass Thai restaurants in Tampa and River View, Florida.
According to What Now research, Lemongrass Thai Kitchen had a new construction plan review approved with provisions by the city on January 1st.
Dakum aims to open in May 2022.
