Scheduled to open at 2601 South Orange Blossom Trail, Island Vybz Fusion Grill is still under construction, according to owner Yvonne Guthrie-Lewis. By her estimate, the restaurant is planned to open in mid-March.
The property, situated near Clear Lake at the corner of 26th and South Orange Blossom Trail, will neighbor other eateries such as Checkers, Guacamoli and Mr. Gyros. They will be taking over what used to be Young’s Market & Deli.
Diners can expect a full service experience, which Guthrie-Lewis is familiar with providing in her background in restaurant management. Island Vybz will be serving a Caribbean cuisine. Guthrie-Lewis also owns a food truck that operates out of Fort Lauderdale.
According to What Now research, Island Vybz has yet to establish a website or social media presence.
A plan review filed with the state was approved with provisions last month.
