Denise Gilmore, Lakeland-local and entrepreneur, will open a café at the corner of North Florida Avenue and 8th Street, reports Lkldnow. Gilmore, who owns and operates Dee’s Gourmet Cinnamon Treats LLC and Lakeland Wedding Planning, has a bit of personal history with the site in question—her grandparents used to live there. Although the house was removed in 2005, Gilmore, who inherited the property, tells Lkldnow she still remembers spending much time there. The café she plans to open will be named Mary’s Bagel Café, for her grandmother.

Mary’s Bagel Café will serve bagels and bagel sandwiches, along with burgers, salads, soups, and desserts. You’ll be able to enjoy a coffee and a gourmet cinnamon bun as well, courtesy of Dee’s. The eatery will have indoor and outdoor seating and offer delivery and curbside pick-up options.

While you await the spring opening, you can get yourself a taste of the future establishment by trying a cinnamon bun from Dee’s—Gilmore says all the products are baked fresh and come with a variety of toppings, from peach cobbler to candied bacon.

Mary’s Bagel Café will be open at 1242 N Florida Ave for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.
