The $700-million Packing District project is well underway, led by Dr. Phillips Charities on 202 acres of land in Orlando’s College Park. Some of the projects highlights include residential units, pedestrian and bike trails, a YMCA, and a Publix Grocery Market. The Packing District aims to be a modern community hub, while paying tribute to the historical relevance of the area.

Among the projects big food and beverage draws will be The Juice Stand and the Southern Box Food Hall. Construction is currently underway on a replica of the original Dr. Phillips Juice Stand, highlighting the area’s citrus industry connection.

The Juice Stand will sit at the corner of Princeton Street and Orange Blossom Trail, welcoming visitors as the Packing District landmark.

Plans for the Southern Box Food Hall aim to include an on-site microbrewery, a Plaza and event space, indoor and outdoor seating, and a restaurant and bar. The location will become the social center of the project, and again, built from the 1930s-era Southern Box Building  once used by Dr. Phillips as an orange crate manufacturing facility.

According to an update by the Orlando Sentinel, the Juice Stand is expected to open in April 2022 but the operator has yet to be announced. The Southern Box Food Hall is expected to finish renovations of the historic building in 2023. JLL Commercial Real Estate will be placing the third-party operator in charge of the food hall.
