The nationally-expanding wine bar chain Sixty Vines will soon be opening a Dr. Philipps location at 7760 West Sand Lake Rd. The establishment will neighbor eateries such as Seasons 52 and Boca’s Grill.
In a recent ABJ interview with CEO Jeff Carcara, he says that Dr. Phillips was an ideal location for the brand’s expansion.
“I know Orlando really well. I lived in Bay Hill for nine years and I know Sand Lake. We opened Seasons 52 there, which does very well. Rocco Tacos is doing great. Eddie V’s is doing great. A lot of people were looking at the site. It’s Restaurant Row — everybody wants to be there.”
“It’ll still feel like a Sixty Vines, but there’ll be a lot more character in the building,” Carcara adds, distinguishing the differences between the first area Sxity Vines and the upcoming one.
“We’ll have the same size pizza bar, but the adjacent area will have high tops. It will almost be like a little mini pizzeria inside this wine tasting room – so, wine and pizza. Dr. Phillips gets the convention business, which we don’t see much of in Winter Park. The convention area is always expanding. Winter Park and the South Orlando area down there are very different markets. They don’t really cross over much.”
No exact opening date has been announced, though the brand is aiming for August.
