For readers unfamiliar with the concept, Big Chicken describes their menu as ranging “from crispy chicken sandwiches and tenders to Cheez-It® crusted mac n’ cheese and hand-crafted ice cream shakes, each menu item tells a story all while offering guests an inside look into the life and personality of Shaquille O’Neal.”

What Now Orlando spoke to Jack Flechner, CEO of DMD Ventures, to get the latest info on this new development.

“Number one, the food is amazing,” says Mr. Flechner, when asked about their motivation to franchise the up-and-coming brand. “I was really, really impressed. I went to the Southern California and Vegas stores and was really impressed with the product. Shaq has two partners who are very impressive as well.”

Flechner explains that Orlando is an obvious choice for DMD, considering their familiarity with the area.

“We also own another restaurant and a hotel in Orlando — we thought to hit this area and South Florida since these are the two markets we own businesses in and are familiar with.”

Flechner also made a point to highlight his impression of his big new business partner.

“We did meet Shaq a couple of times — he’s a very smart guy who really understands business.”

And when can readers expect to try Shaq’s Big Chicken?

“Hopefully, fall or by the end 2023.”
