Orlando’s First Meadery Revving Up for Debut

Zymarium Meadery, one of the most unique upcoming concepts in the central Florida’s food & beverage landscape, appears to be preparing for an opening this summer, according to recent social media activity. The establishment will be located at 1121 N Mills Ave, arguably in the middle of Orlando’s most happening food district.

“Mills 50 is a really great area for food and art,” co-owner Ginger Leigh tells What Now Orlando. “For us, it was the perfect area in Orlando to open a meadery.” 

Leigh explains that her and her partner & co-owner Joe Leigh will be running a taproom with eighteen different meads on tap, including non-alcoholic options for curious but sober visitors. 

“We wanted to create something unique — a taproom where people can enjoy the atmosphere and learn about mead.” 

Mead, for those unfamiliar, is a fermented alcoholic beverage derived from honey and water, “the oldest fermented beverage in the world,” Leigh explains. 

Regarding the exact opening date, nothing is yet set. The pair hope to announce a soft-opening date in the coming weeks, but the final obstacles remain. 

“We’re still going through some final details and getting things in line.”
