El Potro Mexican Restaurant first appeared in Winter Park almost 22 years ago. The restaurant is family-owned and features made-to-order items, such as carne asada, street tacos, sizzling fajitas, and homemade tamales. The fully renovated interior of the new restaurant location will feature a full bar, Mexican folk artwork, and multiple dining rooms with a family-oriented atmosphere. The soft opening has been occurring for the past two weeks. The new restaurant is currently open for business from 11am-10pm Sunday-Thursday and 11am-11pm Friday and Saturday.

The new El Potro Mexican Grill & Bar is located inside the Belle Isle Shopping Center, 5180 South Conway Road, Orlando, Florida. Visitors can enjoy daily lunch and dinner specials, classic margaritas, draft beer and a full liquor bar.

Business partners Hector Ramos, Pablo Garcia, Cirilo Garcia, Victor Garcia, and Ben Alonzo have been working for over 18 months on completely renovating the location, including multiple dining rooms, a large kitchen, and a full liquor bar.

“We are very happy that we found a great location in Belle Isle. There are a lot of hungry people, and we are ready to make them happy. Many people were thrilled that we will have a location closer to them” said Pablo Garcia in a statement.

“It’s awesome to see how our crew and partners work so hard to make as many people as possible happy. Our customers are some of the most loyal I’ve ever seen in the restaurant industry. Some customers have been coming to our restaurants since they opened 20-something years ago. They have been calling and emailing about our new location, which is in a great area. We will be able to serve a lot of new people near the airport ”said Ben Alonzo.

Hector Ramos is another El Potro Mexican Restaurant business partner. He runs the Kirkman location and designed the new bar for the Conway restaurant. “We’re ready to make some good drinks and some good burritos and tacos”, says Ramos. The business partners invite all of Orlando to come and try the new place.

“We’ve been working on the new location for almost eighteen months. We are a minority-owned business and went through the challenges of the pandemic last year. We did experience some setbacks, mostly because of coronavirus-related delays, but we’re happy to say that we are now open and welcome everyone to come eat, drink, enjoy the new place.” – Ben Alonzo, El Potro Orlando Business Partner.

El Potro has multiple Orlando locations besides the Belle Isle/Conway location, including Winter Park, Apopka, and Kirkman/Universal.
