When asked about the concept’s culinary profile, owner Abdelaziz Yassin simply responded “Mediterranean” and then added that readers can expect classic lamb dishes, kofta, and hummus, among other classic Mediterranean staples.

Regarding the space and ambiance, Mr. Yassin noted only that it would be indoor seating only. As far as a prospective opening timeframe goes, Mr. Yassin hopes that Tomatoes will be running by early summer.

Given Mr. Yassin’s reserved, minimal responses, What Now Orlando asked if he wished to make a statement that would further articulate the restaurant’s identity for readers to better understand.

“Maybe later,” said Mr. Yassin. “Not now.”

In any case, readers can be sure that Mr. Yassin will bring a fresh, independently-owned Mediterranean eatery to an area of Orlando populated densely by national chains and other big-money ventures.
