Local brewer Eric Crotty has purchased Gatlin Hall Brewing from Kevin O’Donnell and Mike Brady — a brewery he himself built to begin with.

“I had worked with the owners back in 2020,” Crotty said. “After an initial period of growth and excitement in the community about the concept — which was a brewery and food hall in one — business began to taper down.”

Since early September, Gatlin Hall Brewing at 4761 S. Orange Ave. has closed its doors for Crotty’s new remodel.

What Now Orlando briefly reached Mr. Crotty to inquire about the upcoming establishment’s opening timeframe.

“We don’t have a firm date right now,” he said. “Hoping to be open late November / Early December.”

Once the renovations are finished, the establishment will re-open as Runabout Brewing Kitchen and Raw Bar.

“We’re creating a full sit-down restaurant with raw bar featuring oysters, shrimp, stone crab — when in season — and other seasonal seafood. We’ll have a full menu that includes Southern comfort food and pizzas. Menu tastings are scheduled to begin next week to finalize the offerings, which are currently as extensive as Cheesecake Factory, so we have a lot of paring down to do,” Crotty said to the OBJ.

“They have an $80,000 Italian pizza oven, so we kept that. The goal is to offer a variety of options to appeal to a wide range of customers. We have a full liquor license, so the bar will serve our beer plus cocktails.”

“We have made drastic changes since closing the doors earlier this fall. We lightened everything up. They had black ceilings. We painted everything a lighter cream. We chopped the bar up and made it a proper sit-down raw bar. We’re putting in an oyster display case.”
