Built in 1887, the station operated on Palmetto until it was relocated to 1303 French Avenue in 1956. Constructed of brick and stucco, the property served as an armory, City Hall, the firehouse, jail and courtroom over the years.

According to previous media coverage, the building sat vacant for many years before being remodeled into a residence, and later promoted as an Airbnb rental.

The Station Bar & Grub website informs curious parties that the business is Coming Soon and lists drinks, food, games, sports and more as a framework for the venue’s sports bar concept. Remodeling began in early 2020, and construction is ongoing, including the addition of a red glass roll up door this past spring.

Within walking distance from everything in the downtown area, The Station Bar & Grub will join The Capital Room and The Yardery in the vicinity.
