What Now Orlando spoke to the eatery’s very enthusiastic owner Adam Dionna who explains that “Smyrna Smoothie is a brand-new smoothie company and we’re going to be based at the Smyrna Dunes Dog Park. The park currently doesn’t have any food offerings there, whatsoever. Overall, it’s meant to be a nutritional food option at the park”

What will Smyrna Smoothie be serving?

“So what we’re planning is to serve not only smoothies but açai bowls, oatmeal, bagels, croissants, pastries. For lunch we’ll be serving sandwiches such as tuna salad and chicken salad, and we will have the option to use our grill for hamburgers and hot dogs—really, just general things that you would expect to have at a beach.”

What types of smoothies will be served?

“I’ve created these flavor-characters—we have a Jax Sparrow, a Bob Marley Smoothie, a Kelly Slater Smoothie, a Mako Joe explosion, and a Very Berry-Cuda. We’ll be having T-Shirts made based on those characters/smoothie flavors, and sell them behind the counter.”

And how exactly does Smyrna Smoothie intend to be “dog-friendly”?

“I’ll be serving up dog smoothies, dog treats, disposable water bowls, that kind of thing. Revenue generated from these sales will go towards local adoption and rescue efforts. We would like to create some awareness about how many dogs we save each year, we would like to keep track of that.

What inspired Mr. Dionna to open a smoothie bar?

“It started with my trip to Thailand. I have a cousin who lives in Phuket and we took a dinghy around, trying the most delicious smoothies—papaya, mango, apple—I really dug it. And I thought to myself, why isn’t anyone back home selling smoothies on the beach?”

When will Smyrna Smoothie be up and running?

“By March 1st, 2023, but I’m aiming for mid-February.”
