The Korean fried chicken chain BB.Q Chicken will soon be opening its second Orlando location, according to a recent filing with the State of Florida and confirmed by franchisee Dal Kim. The restaurant will be located at 7600 Dr Phillips Blvd, within the Marketplace at Dr. Phillips shopping center, near eateries such as Einstein Bros. Bagels and Too Jay’s Deli.

Mr. Kim tells What Now Orlando that he is currently in the permitting process and is anticipating three to five more months to complete the permitting phase, which would mark an opening in the first quarter of 2023. The store will span 1900 square feet and be indoor seating only.

Founded in 1995 in South Korea by Chairman Yoon Hong-guen, the franchise has since become a wildly successful Korean chicken chain throughout the United States. The brand offers a variety of fried chicken flavors and heat levels such as Gang-Jeong, Spicy Golden Original, and Wings of Fire.

When asked why he chose to franchise a BB.Q Chicken store, Mr. Kim says, “It was just the taste. I’ve tried a lot of chicken, when I first tried the golden original—I mean, the flavor is something you never forget. That was the biggest reason. It just kind of blew my mind.”

Until the Dr. Phillips Blvd location opens its doors, foodies can visit Kim’s other Orlando store at 1246 E Colonial Dr.
