The Old Spanish Sugar Mill is a very popular breakfast restaurant that has been a Central Florida Staple since 1961, as stated in a Facebook post on their profile. In this post, The Old Spanish Sugar Mill writes “While it is unfortunate, the state has decided not to renew our contract and move forward with another concession in the DeLeon Springs State Park.”

This decision has been quite controversial and the comments of the post have been flooded with support for the restaurant and even a petition for it to stay. Despite the support, the restaurant is set to close on September 12, 2022.

In a post on the their Facebook page, The Old Spanish Sugar Mill writes that “On this date [September 12], we will begin to vacate the building to hand over a blank slate the new vendor. The building itself will remain, with Guest Services Inc. operating a new restaurant in its place. The building will be handed over to the new concession to create their own unique dining experience on October 1, 2022.”

Floridians still have some time to enjoy The Old Spanish Sugar Mill’s pancakes before they’re gone for good. What Now Orlando reached out to the new vendor, Guest Services Inc. for more information but did not hear back. It is unclear what restaurant will take over The Old Spanish Sugar Mill and when that new restaurant will be open for customers.

What Now Orlando will update this article with the name of the the new restaurant taking over and with more details as soon as that information is available. For now, to keep up with the most accurate information by keeping up with The Old Spanish Sugar Mill’s website and Facebook page.
